About Our Guild

CCQG is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization celebrating traditional, modern and artistic quilting.

We promote and advance the art of quilting by exchanging ideas on all aspects of quilting to include teaching and improving our skill techniques, as well as supporting our community with charitable quilts, service projects and events.

History of the Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild

In August, 2011, Kendall County Women’s Shelter Board of Director Judi Burr organized a group of volunteers to make quilts for the newly opened women’s shelter at Boerne’s local community center.  Our quilting community showed their many talents and generosity. Enough quilts were completed for all of the beds at the shelter and several attendees expressed interest for a quilting guild.  Attendees were excited to be able to contribute their sewing skills and be with like-minded quilters/sewists. Survey was done by Judi to see how much interest was generated for a guild and in the fall of 2011 the first meeting of Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild was at Pat Grey’s Embroidery shop.  CCQG quickly outgrew that location and moved to the YMCA, then to First United Methodist Church, and then to current location in Patrick Heath Public Library.  As the guild grew, members voted on our current name of Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild suggested by Sarah Jimenez who thought the creek meandering through Kendall County represented all of our county.  Our logo was developed by Sterling Bey who took that same thought and created our first logo.

Along with our first officers, Shirley Smith was instrumental in implementing Robert’s Rule of Order as well as our by-laws and Deanie Jones in CCQG development. Our first official guild meeting as Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild was in August of 2012.

Our first officers were:

Judi Burr – President
Sarah Jimenez – Vice President – Programs
Lera Borden – Treasurer
Alice Hobbs – Membership
Carolyn Coleman – Secretary
